ASPIRIN FOR VASCULAR EVENTS
The Aspirin Foundation has seen and wishes to comment on the study
by the authoritative Oxford University Trialists' Collaboration
Group.
The Foundation continues to recommend that people considering
the use of aspirin for primary prevention of vascular events do
so in consultation with their doctor.
This discussion between doctor and patient allows for individual
risk assessment based on general health, family history and other
risk factors for cardiovascular disease. This consultative time
with the doctor can also allow for counsel on lifestyle modification
to improve overall health.
The value of aspirin in secondary prevention is well established
and uncontroversial.
