The Medicines and Health products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has announced new labelling for the use of aspirin in 12 - 15 year olds.
From 1st October 2003 all aspirin products must carry the warning 'Do not give to children under 16 years of age unless on the advice of a doctor'. From that date packs without such a warning should not be offered for sale. Most aspirin manufacturers have been putting this warning on all aspirin packs produced since March this year in anticipation of the change. aspirin packs not carrying the new warning cannot be sold after the end of September and pharmacists, grocery and other outlets should have cleared old packs from their shelves by that time.
