Scientists have found yet more evidence to suggest that taking aspirin could help to protect against major health problems. Researchers, from the VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle, the US, believe the drug, which is more than 100 years old, delays and may even protect against Alzheimer's disease. Their study, published in the journal Neurology, showed that patients who had taken aspirin for more than two years were half as likely to develop Alzheimer's as those who did not take the pills regularly.
However, experts have warned that this latest study does not mean people should take aspirin on a regular basis without first seeking medical advice.
